Flip the record over for another new track – All We Can Do - that cooks like the JB's. Underpinning Dionne's powerful vocal are wah-wah rhythm guitar, tight-as-hell bass and drums, and an understated Hammond solo that could have been played by the Godfather of Soul himself, and was written by the band's new keyboard player Joe Tatton (Corinne Bailey Rae / The Haggis Horns)
This is raw Alabama soul straight from the Fame Studios tradition. What did you guys do to Dionne Charles to get a performance like that out of her? But Dionne Charles, lead singer of Baby Charles, certainly delivers a career high on this track. This drips with soul, down-home style.
